How to say Dr. Oetker

Guten Tag!

Unless, you are speak fluent German you might not be able to pronounce the name “Dr. Oetker” correctly. This is important, because how else can you ask for it in store!

Oetker is a common surname in Germany, but in South Africa the only Oetker you might ever meet will be found in the frozen food section in your local retailer. With Afrikaans as one of our 11 official languages, you could easily make the mistake of pronouncing it "Dr. Ootker". However, as it is a German name, it is pronounced Dr. “Urtker”.

Simply substituting the UR for the OE makes all the difference.  Now repeat after us, “Dr. Oetker, Dr. Oetker, Dr. Oetker”.
